Ostrom: The path to the future of energy supply

At the Greentech.Live conference in Berlin, Matthias Martensen, founder of Ostrom, talks about the challenges and innovations in the field of renewable energies.

The greentech company Ostrom, a smart electricity provider, relies on digital and dynamic electricity tariffs to shape the energy world of the 21st century.

Electricity customers benefit from fluctuating prices

Ostrom makes it possible for electricity customers to benefit from fluctuating prices by smartly controlling their appliances depending on how much renewable electricity is being produced.

Ostrom’s platform makes it possible to optimize the power consumption of e-cars or heating systems fully automatically and even stabilize the grid. Customers can set their electricity consumption targets via a user-friendly app and the platform takes over control.

Another innovative step is the creation of a virtual power plant that stores and sells decentralized assets such as Tesla’s battery in order to benefit from fluctuating prices on the electricity exchange. Customers are even offered the opportunity to receive compensation for their flexible use of electricity.

Greentech startup Ostrom remains optimistic – continues to push networking and digitalization

Despite progress, the industry faces major challenges. Matthias Martensen, emphasizes that digitalization in the energy sector is lagging far behind, as many municipal utilities still rely on outdated systems and smart meters are only installed in a few households.

However, Ostrom remains optimistic and is continuing to work on networking and digitalizing the market in order to actively drive forward the energy transition.

Matthias Martensen and Ostrom are committed to sustainable and smart energy use – and show how innovations in the field of renewable energies can shape the future of our energy supply.
