Mapping Zero: Climate protection made understandable
How can climate protection measures be presented in a tangible and fact-based way? Mapping Zero offers an interactive platform to do just that. At the Greentech.LIVE conference in Berlin, Juan Carlos Pusch presented the Mapping Zero project and explained how it helps politicians, the media and citizens to make informed decisions.
The platform is based on a “residual budget” approach and shows how much CO₂ can still be emitted in order to meet the 1.5 degree target. Users can run through various measures, compare their savings potential and thus identify the most effective levers for climate protection.
The calculations come from renowned sources such as Agora Energiewende and the Forum Ökologisch-Soziale Marktwirtschaft.
Mapping Zero is a valuable tool for speakers and climate activists
Mapping Zero is a valuable tool for members of parliament, speakers and climate activists: it enables quick fact checks and makes complex climate policy visually understandable.
Press representatives and scientists also benefit from the clear presentation.
In addition to the platform, German Zero is actively involved in climate policy – through discussions with members of parliament, citizen dialogs and workshops. Anyone who would like to take part can register on the website and support the project.
“Mapping Zero makes climate protection more transparent – an important step towards a fact-based, effective policy,” says Juan Carlos Pusch.
